J Fraites Album Goes to #1

Jeremiah and Me at Flying Elephants Studio, NYC

I’m thrilled to be a soloist on the #1 Classical Crossover album on the Billboard charts.

Piano Piano 2 by Jeremiah Fraites of The Lumineers, produced by David Baron, is a collection of beautiful pieces. The cello is featured on 2 tracks- ‘Extra Lives’ was done at Flying Elephants Studio NYC, Jeremiah and I playing together in one room- an authentic chamber music experience. ‘Champagne’ was done at David’s magical Sun Mountain Studio in the hills.

Piano Piano 2 is a follow up to Jeremiah’s smash hit Piano Piano, also on Dualtone Records. You can hear him discuss his amazing new album on the NPR website.

May we all have extra lives bathing in beautiful music….

Listen everywhere and enjoy springtime.

A new album I mixed is released

OUT NOW! Proud to be part of this new amazingness….

I’m honored to have mixed and played on this new spoken word album by Eric Archer, with Arjun Bruggeman of the Krishna Das band on percussion

A Wheel of Deeds: An Album of Ecstatic Poetry is out today. Listen and download here

I love this album- Eric’s poetry is deeply spiritual, melodious and inspiring. Arjun and I improvised spontaneous accompaniments to his voice with cello loops, tablas, frame drum and more, live in the studio.

Beautifully engineered in a big converted barn with analog gear, by Joey Weiss in Kingston NY

May you be gripped by spontaneous inspiration in the depths of Nature, or wherever you find yourself inspired.

CA Tour and New Releases

Dear Friends,

Early Spring greetings from Garrison Institute, where I’m playing a Krishna Das retreat. I’m sending you good energy from these serene grounds, on the beautiful Mahicantuck- ‘the river that flows two ways,’ as the Mohicans have always called the Hudson.

We’re living in a time of great change and great challenge, and potential great growth as well. Personally, I find mind and heart pushed daily to grow beyond their bounds, by the enormous suffering seen in the World.

Do you feel the same?

Since last newsletter, I’ve been blessed to participate in some music that speaks to these challenges- like two benefit concerts with Natalie Merchant (and some really good 🎻 buddies, Megan Gould and Karen Waltuch) for domestic violence victims. And on an incredible release 'Ojala' by my friend, Bafta-winnning composer Bryan Senti, which draws awareness to the plight of Gaza’s children. Listen here

I had the privilege of mixing 'A Wheel of Deeds', the new spoken word album by Eric Archer, in my studio. Alongside wonderful percussionist Arjun Bruggeman, I contributed cello and loops. Listen to it here

Excitingly, Eric—also an acclaimed songwriter—and I will soon embark on a tour across Northern California by month's end. If you happen to be in the area, we'd love to see you at a concert!

You can catch a glimpse of our duo performance on YouTube here. On 3/27 in Bolinas, we'll have the pleasure of welcoming Genevieve Walker, the soulful violinist from Krishna Das' band, to join us.

There’s always a lot to say, but I don’t want to keep you any longer! Share your thoughts and news with me by email or telepathy, and stay well.

In Love and Music,

Noah
