Love Changes Everything
It all started when…
I called Ram Dass on the phone and he actually picked up. That day in 2004 changed my life forever.
I had already been practicing yoga and meditation for about 5 years, but RD set me on a path to knowing that practice, and myself, on a much deeper level. Today, I share that learning with my students.
In one-on-one online sessions, I work with people to develop their own self-knowledge, sharing tools that help them go deeper in their own exploration of what it means to be human. As a teacher trained and certified in mindfulness meditation, a core practice in Ram Dass’ own life, I offer this life-changing practice to students. Through it, we enter into nonjudgemental awareness of our own thoughts and feelings. This practice anchors us in the present moment, allowing us to actually be here now more and more of the time. It also profoundly changes our relationship to ourselves and our experience, for the better.
Amongst its many benefits, mindfulness has been shown to reduce stress and reactivity. And we can use it to change old habits and build new ones, like appreciating the good in our lives in this very moment.
Gradually, we build upon that awareness, using other practices to deepen our self-love and self-compassion, a love which we can then radiate out and share with others, enriching them and our world. Ram Dass’ practice of loving awareness helps us to enlarge that space, opening us into our Hearts, and eventually allowing us to set up residence in our very own Heartspace.
