New Releases, New Shows
Dear Friends,
I hope you're staying warm.
Up here in the hills, it’s not warm—tonight will be 1º and that’s not counting the wind! I’m enjoying sitting by the fire, writing to you and dreaming of spring. Meanwhile, music fills the air and keeps me warm inside.
It’s an honor to be part of some incredibly warming things.
First, the new album by my friend and incredible composer/multi-instrumentalist Bryan Senti. La Marea features his playing, bass by Spencer Zahn, the Czech National Symphony and my cello playing.
The album was featured on NPR's best albums of the week playlists in October.
Listen to La Marea on your favorite platform and watch this incredible video of the title track—
The soundtrack to Jimmy in Saigon is out, by my friend and Krishna Das bandmate John McDowell, who scored the Oscar-winning film Born into Brothels.
John collaborated with Sabina Sciubba of Brazilian Girls—my old Brooklyn buddies—to compose the music for this award-winning doc.
I play both written and improvised parts that are featured in many scenes of the film.

I’m looking forward to playing with Krishna Das and Nina Rao at the upcoming Menla winter retreat, which will also feature performance artist Marina Abramowic.
And see you at Tibet House NYC on January 1 for 108 Hanuman Chalisas with Nina, KD and many more.
Stay warm and keep putting the love out there—we need it.
Yours in music,
Noah
